The BlowTie Spunding Valve is used to release excess pressures on pressurized fermenters or kegs during pressure transfers. This diaphragm spunding valve is much more accurate than the spring and poppet style, and works much better at lower pressures.
Note: Avoid getting liquid inside the spunding valve. It will damage the gauge.
Use During Pressure Fermentation
Pressure fermentation is more popular than ever. During primary fermentation, active yeast will begin releasing CO2 and cause pressure to begin building inside the fermenter. Simply dial in the desired psi (recommended not to exceed 15 psi) on the attached spunding valve. As pressure reaches the set limit, it will release the excess pressure and close up again back at your set psi.
Use During Pressure Transfers
To pressure transfer, purge the oxygen out of the receiving vessel. Set your spunding valve onto the receiving vessel and set the psi several psi lower than the vessel you’re transferring from. Having a spunding valve in place will allow you control the receiving head pressure without losing carbonation in the process.
